PRESS RELEASE: Plano, TX (PRWEB) March 16, 2015 — Kodiak, a leading provider of broadband push-to-talk (PTT) solutions, today announced that a recent survey of land mobile radio (LMR) users conducted by Market in View indicates that 75% of users currently make use of a commercial cellular service to supplement LMR communications at work. The survey data also indicates that 84% of decision makers and 38% of end users are using cell phones to access productivity applications, in addition to voice, text, email and Internet. The survey, commissioned by Kodiak, represents more than ten industry verticals, including Public Safety, and has a sample base of 600 decision makers with LMR experience and 600 non-managerial LMR end users in the U.S.
Survey results indicate that business and public safety decision makers would increase the number of PTT users on their LMR networks by 47% when they augment their LMR networks with broadband PTT. The survey also shows that 61% of decision makers want to purchase broadband PTT from mobile network operators.
According to the survey, the top-three most desirable attributes of broadband PTT are: coverage (85%), support for 4G LTE/3G cellular networks and Wi-Fi (84%), and compatibility with the latest smartphones (81%). In addition, LMR business decision makers find private 1:1 calling to be an important attribute, as 78% responded that it was “extremely compelling” or “very compelling” and 77% indicated that information on a user’s availability before calling is a key attribute. The survey also shows that 76% of decision makers found the availability of low-cost, ruggedized feature phones a very or extremely compelling motivation to adopt push-to-talk services provided by carrier-integrated broadband PTT.
